The easiest way to clear up disk space is to delete the data you no longer need. But how do you know which folders take up the most space on your computer? IntelliConcepts came up with the Disk Space Finder to provide an answer to that precise question. The application analyzes the drives you choose and tells you which folders take up the most space. You can thus identify and remove the data you no longer need.

Disk Space Finder will run on Windows XP, Vista, 7, or 8, as long as the operating system has the .NET Framework 4.0 on it. To get the application up and running, you will have to go through a standard setup process: download a small executable, run it, follow the onscreen instructions presented by a setup wizard.

The application's interface is made up of two panes that perform the same function: they list your drives and allow you to navigate your PC. I have to say that I found the dark theme to be appealing and I immediately felt at home with the interface’s layout.

Disk Space Finder works something like this: select the D: partition, for example, and the application will examine it, discover its contents, then present its findings as a pie chart. You can click on the pie chart to drill down into what the application uncovered. In the upper right hand there’s a button that allows you to open the location presented on the pie chart in Windows Explorer. This sort of functionality enables you to visualize disk space usage and open your folders in Explorer so you can manage your data.

IntelliConcepts offers Disk Space Finder for free.

Quickly visualize disk space usage, easily see what takes up the most space on your computer, and efficiently clear up disk space.

Pros

The IntelliConcepts installation process goes along smoothly and rapidly. The dark-themed interface is good looking and very easy to use. The application displays how data takes up space on your machine, allows you to navigate your system and to open folders in Windows Explorer. IntelliConcepts is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
